First post

Hello everyone, I figured that this would be the best way for me to share all of my adventures in South Korea. I have been here for a total of 6 months now and have another 6 left in this amazing country. I live in a small town called Boeun, which is located in the middle of nowhere (currently it is covered in snow).

Although, it is far out in the country side and there isn't a whole lot to do, there are some great hiking spots. This pic is taken from atop one of my favorites.

I work at an elementary school called Pan Dong which is also further out in the country side. It is a small school with about 75 students and 10 teachers. It is nice and a pretty laid back atmosphere.

And when we are talking out in the country this is what I mean. I passed this on the way to school.

I couldn't forget my co-teacher Jo Haejeong. She is super awesome and can clear up anything that gets lost in translation to my students. I am forever grateful for helping me keep my 1st and 2nd graders in line. Those kids only knew the word "hello" before we showed up, so  keeping them under control on my own can be a bit of a nightmare.

                                          Case in point...

I don't really mind living out in the country. Korea has some amazing public transportation so getting somewhere like Seoul only takes around 3 hours (by Korean standards that is a long ways to go, but I don't mind). Also, I think that being out here pushes me to travel and see more of the country. The black dots are places I have visited and the red one in the middle is Boeun.

Thus far it has been a pretty incredible 6 months ( that is so weird to say it still seems like I just got here!) and I'm sure that the next 6 will be just as good. I have meet so many good people and seen some  beautiful places.

Stay posted, I should have a pretty sweet entry coming up soon. My friends and I are heading to Thailand and Cambodia!
